For The Horde!

Coming out of Comic-Con this weekend is news that Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. gave nerds a first look at a live-action World of Warcraft adaptation titled simply Warcraft.

A mix of live action and CG and set in a field near Hellfire, the teaser featured a human warrior drawing down on a hammer-wielding orc.

Director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) was in attendance and after screaming “I know how lucky I am and I’m so, so excited to do it” like a school girl told the crowd the footage shown was a “mood piece” and that official shooting will start in 2014.

After numerous attempts to adapt World of Warcraft for the big screen since 2006, including the rumored involvement of Steven Spielberg and Sam Raimi, who dropped out in 2012 to film Oz: The Great and Powerful, it seems as if nerds can finally rejoice.
